Trial begins for gang accused of putting cocaine in environmentalist’s car to try to put him in prison

In 2017, activist Juan Clavero went with two other colleagues from Ecologistas en Acción to a demonstration to demand that farm owners not close a public road in the Sierra de Grazalema (Cádiz).

At that moment, an individual joined them in the back seat of their car, arguing that he too was an environmentalist in order to join them. His attitude was suspicious to the activists, but they never thought he would leave them 47 grams of cocaine and 4 grams of hashish to try to have them arrested for drug trafficking.

Juan Clavero was released without charge and his case was filed, and the farm manager, two managers and the man who posed as an environmentalist were charged. Today, seven years later, they will be tried for trying to trap the three environmentalists.
