The new president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, nominated Mehmet Oz (Mehmet Cengiz Oz), a Turkish doctor, for the position of director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

According to the information, the newly elected president stated that the United States is facing a serious health crisis and there is no doctor more qualified to face these problems than Mehmet Oz.

Referring to the doctor’s educational life and career, which began at Harvard University, Trump highlighted that he can solve many problems of the American health system.

In the United States, Medicare is a federal health insurance provider that provides health care to people age 65 and older. Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that provides health insurance services to low-income groups.

It should be remembered that in the United States, the federal government spent $860 billion under the “Medicaid” program and $848 billion under the “Medicare” program in 2023.

It should be noted that Mehmet Oz is a Turkish-American doctor, presenter and politician. He participated in the elections to the United States Congress as a candidate. In the 2022 Pennsylvania midterm elections, he nominated himself as a Republican Party senator.
