Trump’s nominee, Keith Kellogg, is the author of the Ukraine peace plan, which proposes expanding U.S. arms supplies only if Ukraine agrees to peace talks with Russia.
Reuters reports this.
According to Reuters, the plan would involve the United States warning Moscow that if there is no negotiation, support for Ukraine will increase. In addition, the plan includes temporarily removing the issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO from the agenda.
Kellogg previously held senior positions in the Trump administration, including chief of staff of the National Security Council from 2017 to 2021.
His peace plan involves freezing the front lines and forcing Kyiv and Moscow to negotiate. The United States should tell Ukraine that it will receive more American weapons only if peace negotiations begin, and Moscow should be warned that the absence of negotiations will lead to increased aid to Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Trump could also name former acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell to this position. However, sources say Kellogg is the favorite for the job.
A quick end to the war in Ukraine was one of Trump’s main campaign promises, although he avoided discussing exactly how he would do it.
“Keith has had a distinguished military and business career, including serving in critical national security positions in my first administration,” Trump wrote on social media, describing Kellogg.
Kursor also reported that US President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team has been informed of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, a US official said in an interview with CBS News.
In his words, Trump’s team positively values this plan, considering it an important step to stabilize the situation in the Middle East.
