The newly elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, nominated South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the new secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
CNN reports, citing information from two sources familiar with the Trump team’s selection process, that Noem will be in charge of an agency that oversees a variety of areas, from Customs and Immigration to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Secret Service. .
Journalists point out that by choosing Noem, Trump ensures control of an important department, headed by a person who supports his domestic policies.
Key positions will also be occupied by supporters of harsh American immigration policies: Stephen Miller and Tom Homan.
Attitude towards Israel
Kristi Noem is known for her support of Israel and in March of this year she introduced a bill aimed at reducing criticism of it. She stated:
“Our objective is to guarantee the security of the chosen people”

Position on Ukraine
In spring 2023, Noem said that US military assistance to Ukraine was a costly strategic mistake that contributed to the rapprochement between Russia and China.
He argued that “this fight should be Europe’s problem, not ours,” and that spending taxpayers’ money under the threat of nuclear conflict was wrong.
Kill a puppy and a goat
This year, Noem published a book in which she talked about the murder of her dog named Cricket. According to The Guardian, the animal strangled the neighbor’s chickens and was difficult to train, which is why the politician considered it dangerous. He took the dog to a gravel pit and shot it.
“I hated him. He proved to be ornery, dangerous to everyone he came into contact with and of little value as a hunting dog,” he said.
He later also shot his family’s goat, citing its aggressive behavior and bad smell.
