Republican candidate Donald Trump is closing the gap with his Democratic rival Kamala Harris one week before the United States presidential elections. At the same time, the Republican is ahead in most key states. Trump announced it at a large rally at Madison Square Garden in New York.
A joint poll by Ipsos and The New York Times shows a minimal gap between the former head of the White House and the current vice president: 48% versus 49%. ABC News shows Harris with a 1.4% lead. Most of these polls have a margin of error of around 2%, so in some cases it is impossible to speak of any advantage of one candidate over another. At the same time, on prediction services where bets are placed, including Polymarket and Election Betting Odds, the former president has an impressive lead.
Now there is early voting in the United States, which is being called at the headquarters of both candidates.
Some Republican supporters fear voter fraud. In 2020, it was the catalyst for large-scale actions, including the storming of the Capitol by Trump supporters, which left five people dead.
