Trump cooks fries at a McDonald’s and claims, without proof, that Harris never worked there

The former American president and Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump, He led an unusual campaign this weekend a few days before the elections. Trump went to campaign at a fast food restaurant in McDonald’s outside Philadelphia, where he declared, without evidence, that the vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, He never worked there when he was a student.

Donald Trump did it this Sunday campaign at a McDonald’s restaurant in the swing state of Pennsylvaniawhere he accuses his Democratic rival of having invented that he worked for this fast food chain when he was young. The Republican stopped at a franchise in suburban Philadelphia, where he donned an apron and spent a few minutes cooking fries with employees and handing them out through the drive-thru window.

“I love McDonald’s. I love the jobs. And I think it’s inappropriate when someone says everywhere that he worked at McDonald’s (…) but he never worked at McDonald’s,” the Republican said of his Democratic rival.

According to the Harris campaign, Vice President He worked during the summer of 1983 at a McDonald’s in the city of Alameda. (California), working the cash register and cooking fries, to pay for his studies at Howard University in Washington. Harris, who did not give further details on the subject, usually explains this story as a sign of proximity to the working classes and by distancing himself from Trump, a real estate magnate who inherited his father’s empire. .

The Republican, a big consumer of fast food than in 2019 handed out McDonald’s hamburgers at a White House event, accused Harris repeatedly without evidence of making up that part of her resume.

Harris denies Trump

Ian Sams, spokesperson for Harris, assured this Sunday that Trump lies out of despair: “He can’t understand what it’s like to have a summer job because he was handed millions on a silver platter and then squandered them.” Harris doesn’t mention her experience at McDonald’s in her memoir, and apparently the first time she spoke about it publicly was during her first presidential campaign in 2019, when she joined that company’s strikers in Las Vegas.

McDonald’s has avoided responding to several requests for information from US media asking confirm if Harris worked at the restaurant 40 years ago.

Trump has a long history of spreading lies about the past of his political rivals and was a leading proponent of the conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama (2009–2017) was born in Kenya and therefore had no right to be president under the US Constitution.
