Particular attention was paid to the Iranian factor, which Trump said was influenced by the current head of the White House’s decision to unfreeze Iranian assets.
Trump returned to Twitter on the eve of the election, posting a video linking Iran funding to the Hamas attack and calling it a “bailout for Iran.” The video highlights Trump’s toughness toward Iran and its role in destroying ISIS, and also mentions maintaining peace in the Middle East under his presidency. The video ends with a photo of Trump with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, underscoring his intention to return to a tough foreign policy when he returns to the White House.
Trump had previously accused Harris of allegedly facilitating a terrorist attack by allowing Iranian assets to be unfrozen, thereby giving Iran access to funding terrorist groups. He claims that the Biden-Harris administration supported decisions that weakened US national security.
Trump’s criticism intensified especially against the backdrop of the anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, which he called “the most shameful moment in American history.” He also stressed that Kamala Harris was the last person to be with Biden before the decision to withdraw troops, which Trump said had disastrous consequences.
Responding to these statements, Harris recalled the casualties among the US troops killed in Kabul and stressed that the Biden administration has taken the right step to end the longest war in US history while continuing to fight terrorism globally.
