Donald Trump, winner of the US presidential election, announced that he will nominate Pete Hegseth for the position of US Secretary of Defense, according to a statement released on Wednesday.
“I am honored to announce that I have nominated Pete Hegseth to serve as Secretary of Defense in my Cabinet.” Trump said in a statement.
Hegseth graduated from Harvard and Princeton. He served in the US military, including in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan. He also worked as a presenter on the pro-Republican channel Fox News.
