The President-elect of the United States, Donald Trumppromised this Monday that everything Mexican and Canadian products will be affected by a Price 25% in retaliation for the flow of drugs and illegal immigration and considered an additional 10% on Chinese products until that country stops the arrival of fentanyl.
As his Truth Social platform points out, one of his first decrees after coming to power on January 20 will be to sign the necessary documents to apply a 25% customs duty to Mexico and Canada on all their products entering the states -United.
This rate will be in effect until it is described as “the invasion” of drugs and undocumented immigrants.
“Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily resolve this long-simmering problem. We demand that they use this power, and until they do, it is time for them to pay a very high price!”, he declared.
Trump added in Truth Social that he had “many conversations” with China about the enormous amount of drugs, particularly fentanyl, that he said were being sent to the United States.
“But it was in vain. Chinese officials told me that they would impose the maximum penalty, death, on any drug trafficker caught doing this, but unfortunately they never implemented it and drugs are coming to our countrymainly via Mexico, at levels never seen before,” he said.
So Trump stressed that until this flow stops, he would impose an additional 10% tariff on China, above any other existing tariffs, on all its products entering the country.
As an election candidate, the New York tycoon has emphasized his intention to save jobs in the United States imposing customs duties of up to 20% on all imported products and 60% on those from China, with which it seeks to intensify the trade war.
Its main objective is to automotive industryand threatened to impose tariffs of up to 200% on all cars from Mexico to deter Chinese manufacturers from setting up in that country.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Liu Pengyu, said: “No one will win in a trade war or a tariff war. » “Economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States is mutually beneficial in nature,” he said in a statement.
“The Chinese side informed the US side of the progress made in US anti-narcotics law enforcement operations. All of this shows that the idea that China is deliberately allowing fentanyl precursors into the US is completely contrary to the facts and reality,” he stressed.
