Former President Donald Trump has a comfortable lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race for the first time in a new poll, according to a forecast from Decision Desk HQ and The Hill.
As of Sunday, the model shows Trump has a 52 percent chance of winning, while Harris has a 42 percent chance of winning.
This is a significant change from previous months, when Harris had a 54-56 percent lead to Trump’s 44-46 percent. However, from the beginning of October, the difference between the candidates began to decrease rapidly, and on October 17 their chances became almost equal, with a forecast of 50 to 50. Within three days, Trump was able to consolidate his lead.
The changes correlate with an improvement in her standing in key states like Wisconsin and Michigan, which previously tended to support Harris.
