Trump vs. Harris: Exit polls show who Jewish voters chose

Kamala Harris won about 67% of the Jewish vote, according to exit polls, close to the 69% that Joe Biden received in 2020. Donald Trump received 31% of the Jewish vote, the same as four years ago. However, the largest Arab and Muslim community in the United States erupted in protests against the war in Gaza: only 15% voted for Harris, compared to 88% in the last election.

What was expected to be one of the key issues of the US presidential election ended without much drama. The votes of Jewish and Muslim voters remained roughly the same as in the 2020 election. However, Democrats pulled off a surprise result in Dearborn, home to the country’s largest Arab and Muslim community.

According to an AP poll, Kamala Harris received 67% of the Jewish vote, while her Republican opponent Donald Trump received only 31%. These results are almost identical to those of the previous elections, when Biden received 69% of the Jewish vote and Trump 31%.

Harris also won 61% of the Muslim vote, close to the 63% Biden received in the last election. Trump received 30%, down 5% from 2020. But in Dearborn, Michigan, often called the “Arab capital of America,” Trump received about 45% of the vote, and independent candidate Jill Stein also received some support. Harris received the support of only 15% of voters there.

The change in Dearborn, which the Wall Street Journal calls “America’s jihad capital,” stands in stark contrast to the 2020 election results, when Democrats won 88% of the vote. The main reason was the strong discontent of Muslims with the Democrats’ policy towards the Gaza Strip. In the days leading up to the election, both parties competed hard for the Muslim vote in Dearborn, home to the country’s largest Arab and Muslim community.

The overall percentage of turnout of Jewish and Muslim voters is not yet known. Trump made a significant effort to persuade these voters to at least stay home, and he may have succeeded. For example, in Pennsylvania, where Trump now leads, there are around 300,000 Jews living, and every vote there is critical.

According to Ynet, Democratic presidential candidates generally have no problem garnering Jewish support, as American Jews tend to be liberal.

Previously, Cursor wrote that Trump is increasing his lead over Harris by winning North Carolina.
