He Superior Court of Justice of Madrid has partially annulled the 2021 ordinances of the Madrid City Council on low-emission zones. In particular, the court is demolishing the entire so-called ZBE area “in the whole municipality”also including that of the Central District and the Plaza Elíptica.
This decision does not mean that the capital’s ZBEs automatically decline, since an appeal can be filed with the Supreme Court. Sources from the Department of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility explain that their legal services have not yet studied the judgment.
