Turkey will continue its military operations in northern Iraq and Syria against the positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared on Tuesday, October 29. “We prevent terrorists who live on our borders from breathing (…). Until the establishment of a country and region without terror, we will continue this fight in various dimensions.”declared the head of state.
The PKK claimed responsibility for an attack on the defense industries headquarters on Wednesday, October 23 in Ankara that left five dead and twenty-two wounded.
“When we detect a threat to our country, inside or outside our borders, no one can stop us from eliminating it”continued Erdogan, who spoke on the occasion of the 101st meetingmy anniversary of the Turkish Republic and said he was ready “Use all means to end terrorism”.
“Steel Dome”
“Now we can develop the weapons we need in the fight against terrorism and we don’t need anyone’s permission”added the Turkish president, praising his country’s defense industries to the heads of the main companies that produce them.
He stated that Türkiye was in the process of establishing a “steel dome” for its anti-aircraft defense, comparable to Israel’s “iron dome.”
Erdogan added that Türkiye had also become “the largest drone manufacturer in the world”. “Since 2018, 65% of armed drone sales worldwide have been made by Turkish companies”he assured.
