Türkiye reacts to the Israeli operation in Lebanon

Türkiye condemned Israel’s ground offensive in Lebanon as an “illegal invasion attempt” and called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops.

An official statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry stresses that this aggression must stop as soon as possible and that Israeli soldiers must leave Lebanese territory.

The Israel Defense Forces are reportedly involved in intense clashes in Lebanon that began early this morning. This offensive was a continuation of the escalation of the conflict with the terrorist group Hezbollah after a series of airstrikes against their targets.

The Turkish government said violating Lebanese sovereignty through ground attacks is unacceptable and illegal. Ankara also warned of a possible new wave of migration that could arise as a result of the conflict.

“As a result of this dangerous invasion attempt, it is very likely that there will be a new wave of migration and the strengthening of extremist positions around the world,” the ministry added.

In his statement, Türkiye called on the UN Security Council to comply with international standards and take necessary measures to stabilize the situation. At the same time, Turkish authorities do not consider the presence of their troops in Iraq to be the norm.

Previously, Kursor reported that Spain and Russia responded to the IDF offensive against Hezbollah. Thus, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albarez, asked Israel this Tuesday to stop carrying out land incursions into southern Lebanon to avoid a further escalation of the conflict. He expressed concern about the alarming information coming from the region and highlighted the need to achieve a truce in both Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
