Consultations were held in Dushanbe between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Serdar Muhammetdurdyev, and the Special Representative of the People’s Republic of China for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong. Ariana News reports this today, November 22.
During the meeting the parties discussed priority areas of strategic interstate cooperation and also exchanged views on the progress of the implementation of previously reached agreements. It was noted that personal contacts between the leaders of the two countries play a key role in intensifying interstate dialogue, which gives a strong impetus to the further development and expansion of Turkmen-Chinese relations.
It was highlighted that Turkmenistan considers multilateral international platforms to maintain stability in Afghanistan as an important factor in promoting the sustainable improvement of the socio-economic situation of the neighboring country.
The parties exchanged views on the progress of preparations for the fifth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, which will be held in Turkmenistan. The interlocutors confirmed that Turkmenistan and China will continue to provide comprehensive support to Afghanistan’s economic recovery.
