Turner (ACS) Begins Work on Modernizing Terminal 3 at San Francisco Airport

Turner, ACS subsidiary in the United States begins work on modernizing Terminal 3 West of San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The design and development of these was carried out in alliance with Gensler and TEF, and will cost $2.6 billion.

This project will redefine the passenger experience with a refocus on comfort, efficiency and durability. It includes a 200,000 square foot expansion of Terminal 3, 650,000 square feet of renovation and a new six-story building that will house airline lounges and operational office spaces.

The 1,000-foot west corridor and the 400-foot east corridor were manufactured according to 11 modules in an air freight yard nearby to avoid interruptions to travelers. The project aims to obtain LEED Platinum certificationdemonstrating SFO’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The expansion portion of the project is expected to open in fall 2027, with the east side of Terminal 3 opening in 2029.
