At least two people72 and 27 years old, died in a multiple accident on the section of the A-66 highway or on the Ruta de la Platacorresponding to the Sevillian municipalities of Santiponce and Salteras, this Saturday following a car traveling in the opposite direction. Five people were also injured.
Sources of the Unified Emergency Service 112 of Andalusia indicated that around 1:20 p.m., several people alerted of a traffic accident in the aforementioned section of the Badajoz direction of the A-66 highway in Seville, while a car was apparently traveling in the opposite direction.
The people who raised the alarm alluded to the fact that at least three cars were involved in the accident and that there was people trapped insidewith the mobilization of teams from the Civil Guard of Traffic, 061 and firefighters, who moved staff from the parks of Santiponce, Mairena del Aljarafe, La Rinconada and even the Sevillian capital, due to the need for a crane specialized.
In this sense, sources from the Provincial Fire Service informed Europa Press that the car traveling in the opposite direction was a “high-displacement vehicle” which had specifically collided head-on with three passenger cars, killing two people. and one seriously injured, who had to be freed by the police from the car in which he was stuck.
The 112 service added that there were four other people injured, two of them slightly, and these people were evacuated to the Virgen del Rocío, Macarena and Infanta Luisa hospitals. The deceased are two men aged 72 and 27 and the injured are two other men aged 27 and 31 and three women aged 24, 25 and 26, according to 112.
Sources from the Andalusian Traffic Management Center also reported that the accident caused more than two and a half kilometers of traffic jams in the direction of Mérida on the A-66.
