Two dead and six injured in a filming in downtown Orlando, Florida in the middle of Halloween, as reported this Friday by the regional police. Authorities said a teenage suspect was arrested. The injured were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center and are in stable condition.
The shooting of the eight people took place around 1 a.m. local time in Orlando’s entertainment district, where hundreds of people were celebrating Halloween. Officers responded to reports of shots fired at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue and, within minutes, witnessed second shooting south of Washington Street on Orange Avenue, according to the Orlando Police Department.
People dressed in Halloween costumes were in the area of the incident as emergency workers treated the victims, according to a video posted on Instagram and verified by Reuters. Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith said at a news conference that the suspected shooter, a 17-year-old boy, had been identified and taken into custody.
Police are still investigating and the police department is assessing the need for increase patrols downtown this weekend, according to their press release.
