Two people questioned for stealing 140 kilos of chestnuts in El Bierzo

CIVIL GUARD

The Civil Guard is investigating two people for an alleged crime of stealing chestnuts after surprising them with 140 kilos of this fruit in the Bercian commune of Sobrado.

The events took place on October 27 when the Central COS of the León Command received a notice in which the alerter explained that there were two people in the area known as Las Cabañas who were stealing chestnuts.

Immediately, members of the ROCA team, specialized in field thefts, went to the site and surprised the individuals with this quantity of fruit.

Following the complaint filed by the owner of the trees, an investigation was opened against these people, a man and a woman of Bulgarian and Spanish nationality.

The seized chestnuts were returned to the owner of the trees and the procedure was brought before the Ponferrada Police Court of Instruction.
