In the city of Poznan in western Poland, freight and passenger trains caught fire, rescuers evacuated about a thousand people and no one was injured, Polskie Radio reports citing firefighters.
According to the portal, a fire broke out in one of the carriages of a freight train at the Poznan-Gurczyn station. The fire spread to the nearby train. As a result, about a thousand people were evacuated, most of them were fans of the Warsaw Legia football club, who were going to the team’s match against Lech Poznan.
Firefighters do not rule out that the cause of the fire was arson, but the exact cause will be announced after an investigation. The PAP agency, citing the police, writes that the cause of the fire on the goods train could have been flares launched by fans.
