Typhoon Yagi paralyses life in a Chinese province: more than half a million people have been evacuated

More than 570,000 people have been evacuated due to Typhoon Yagi in Guangdong Province in southern China.

Oku.Az This was reported by Xinhua news agency, citing data from the province’s meteorological department.

On the same day, the typhoon first hit the Ventyan village of Wenchan region at approximately 16:20 (12:20 Baku time – ed.). It subsequently developed into a category 17 super typhoon with a maximum wind speed of 234 km/h. “Yagi” brought heavy rainfall to most parts of the island and heavy downpours to some towns and villages.

More than half a million people in Guangdong province have been evacuated to the south of the country, as the super typhoon, which struck at 22:20 local time (18:20 Baku time – ed.), is expected to make landfall for the second time.

Typhoon Yagi was the eleventh typhoon this year.
