The new Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, stated that Ukraine should become a member of NATO, as this is supposedly a guarantee of European security.
He expressed his opinion on this issue on October 1 at the official inauguration ceremony of the position of Secretary General of the Alliance in Brussels.
“It is necessary to implement the aid package promised at the Washington summit. “This has to do with the creation of a command, financial assistance and the irreversible movement of Ukraine towards membership in NATO, because Ukraine’s place is in NATO.” Rutte said.
Among its other two objectives, it highlighted strengthening the Alliance’s defenses to contain threats, including increasing military spending, and strengthening ties with allies in Europe, the Indo-Pacific and other regions.
The new Secretary General also praised his predecessor Jens Stoltenbergwhich supposedly made NATO “stronger and more united than ever.”
Previously EADaily reported that outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg gave a very notable farewell speech. He gave it to the German Marshall Fund.
