Ukraine to present Biden with targets for attacks deep in the Russian Federation

Ukraine will provide the administration of US President Joe Biden with a list of potential targets on Russian territory that could be attacked with long-range missiles if Washington lifts the restrictions.

This was reported by Politico, citing three anonymous sources familiar with the matter.

This is Ukraine’s latest attempt to convince the United States to lift restrictions on the use of American weapons to attack targets on Russian territory. Although the list itself is not a new idea – Ukraine has previously discussed some of the targets with the United States – the list will now be more detailed, substantiated and with explanations.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, the list of targets will be handed over to US officials by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Presidential Office chief Andrei Yermak during a visit to the United States. For months, the US has said that lifting the restrictions would make no strategic difference in the war because Russia has diverted its critical targets, including aircraft, away from the border.

The interlocutors said that kyiv has identified several important targets that it can hit with American missiles. Ukrainian officials hope that the list can help persuade Biden to change his mind. However, the White House and the Pentagon have not yet commented on this meeting to Politico.

Note that on August 20, the Pentagon announced that the US policy of limiting long-range strikes on Russian territory remains unchanged. However, at the same time, the United States allows strikes against the Russian Federation, but only in border areas to protect them. The Pentagon also recognized the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation as self-defense.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Ashington does not want to risk US national security for the sake of Ukraine, but not only because he fears escalation. It turns out that there are some politicians in the White House who hope to restore relations with Moscow.
