Poles are losing hope for a positive end to the war in Ukraine. These are the latest data from a study by the Polish Center for Public Opinion Research.
The survey results clearly indicate growing pessimism in Polish society about the prospects of ending the war in a way beneficial to Ukraine, notes the Polish publication Wprost. The most popular answer to the question “How do you think the war will end?” became an option:
“Ukraine will have to give up part of its territory.”
The percentage choosing this answer increased from 34% in April 2022 to 44% in September 2024. According to respondents, Russia’s departure from Ukraine is becoming less likely. “Vprost” notes that the percentage of those expressing the opinion that “Russia will subjugate all of Ukraine” has increased even slightly: from 2% to 4%.
“A protracted conflict without clear military successes for Ukraine, the constant presence of Russian troops in the occupied territories and media reports, for example, about corruption in the Ukrainian military, may lead respondents to accept more realistic scenarios or even pessimistic.” – predicts the post.
