A citizen of Ukrainian nationality was seriously injured on Monday after being shot twice in Santiago de la Ribera, in the municipality of San Javier (Murcia). The attack occurred when the man arrived home accompanied by his wife.

As they entered the portal, a stranger approached them and he fired two shots from behind, according to the newspaper ‘La Verdad’, which cites sources close to the investigation. The bullets struck his knee and side, causing serious injuries and requiring him to be treated at the scene.

The attack occurred around 8:30 p.m.. Shortly after, the Civil Guard received a call warning that a man had been shot several times, was on the ground and bleeding profusely.

An ambulance attended the scene, where paramedics attempted to stabilize the man. before transferring him to Los Arcos Hospital. Officers from the local police and the Civil Guard also attended the scene, responsible for the investigation.

After the shooting, the shooter fled in a vehicle, sources said. Shortly afterwards, a car matching the description was located on fire in an underground tunnel of the AP-7which led investigators to suspect it was the same car.

In the same area, a suspect was delighted by a Seat Leónwhich is searched by the Civil Guard.
