Ukrainian Minister: “Agreeing on the climate goal of 300 billion at COP29 is a strategic agreement”

“The agreement on the new climate target of $300 billion for developing countries by 2035 at the UN COP29 conference on climate change is a rich and quite complex strategic agreement for all countries in the world, especially for Ukraine “.

AZERTAC reports that the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Svetlana Grinchuk, said about this.

“Article 6 of the Paris Agreement: a package of decisions on market mechanisms was adopted. The work program on agriculture was continued and a portal for the submission of new projects was created. Measures were taken in the direction of preparation to achieve the global adaptation goal,” the minister added.

Grinchuk also explained what the results mean for Ukraine: “We will receive funds to implement our climate plans and projects. We can attract additional Article 6 investments, as well as participate in financing from international financial institutions for green energy, green restoration and adaptation to climate change”.

According to the minister, the Ukrainian pavilion has become an important element of the works in Baku that, despite the war and destruction, fulfills the mission of attracting international partners for ecological restoration. “This will be a symbol of the world’s unity around Ukraine even after the end of COP29,” the minister added.
