Ukrainians will pay for restoration: they want to increase electricity transmission tariffs by 48%

The Ukrainian energy system operator is proposing to increase the electricity transmission tariff by 48%. Part of this will be allocated to disaster recovery.

“Ukrenergo proposes to increase the electricity transmission tariff by 2025 by 48%, up to 783.71 UAH/MWh,” – reports the specialist publication ExPro with reference to the draft document.

The operator estimated that almost half of the costs amounting to 77.1 billion hryvnias ($1.88 billion) in 2025 will be spent on special rights, and the purchase of electricity to offset technological costs will reach 18 billion hryvnias.

During the previous increase in electricity transmission tariffs, the national regulator said the adjustment was being made so that the operator would have funds for emergency restoration of damaged facilities, creating an emergency supply of equipment and purchasing necessary goods and services.

The tariff increase will be 8% of the current price of electricity for the population. According to ExPro, the final decision will be taken by the regulator after an open discussion procedure.

As reported EADaily In response to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attacks on fuel and energy facilities in Russia, attacks are being launched against Ukraine’s energy system. This year, 9 GW of power plant capacity has been disabled – almost half of the country’s generation.
