The report prepared by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on the number of executions states that 45 people were hanged in Iranian prisons in July, and at least 93 people were hanged in August. At the same time, it was reported that the number of prisoners hanged since the beginning of this year exceeded 400, and 15 of them are women.
“We are concerned by the sharp increase in the number of executions in Iran. In August, government authorities only announced a small number of those executed. This indicates a lack of transparency on the part of the authorities,” the UN experts said.
