Unanimous rejection of companies in Castile and León of the reduction in working hours promoted by the government

The presidents of the employers’ association CEOE and the Association of Family Businesses of Castilla y León, respectively Santiago Aparicio and Isidoro Alanis, have criticized the reduction of the working day to 37.5 hours that the government wants to impose with the exclusive agreement with unions. .

Aparicio accused the government of the nation of having issued an “ultimatum” regarding the reduction of the working day without paying attention to the employers’ proposals and rejected the possibility of sitting down to talk again with the Minister of Labor and the vice-president. . second in the government, Yolanda Díaz, because They no longer have “anything to say”.

“The only thing they gave us is an ultimatum, they did not put any proposals on the table,” insisted Aparicio, specifying that the proposals made by the government “were not discussed”, so the men business people didn’t know what to do. “The issue has already been resolved directly, let’s let the government do what it sees fit from now on,” said the president of CEOE Castilla y León.

In statements collected by Europa Press, Aparicio explained that a moment had arrived in the negotiations with the government where the Ministry of Labor launched an “ultimatum” without taking into account the demands and proposals of the employers’ organization. “They didn’t even see them.”lamented the president of CEOE Castilla y León who defended in this sense the decision of the employers’ association to abandon negotiations in a situation in which one of the parties – the government -, “which is very important”, has an apostille, does not pay attention to approaches.

“We have really decided to get out of it,” acknowledged Aparicio, justifying the withdrawal of the CEOE from the negotiations on another “fundamental question”, the fact that everything that has been approved so far concerning the reduction of hours and working time had been negotiated with the unions within the framework of collective agreements. agreements. “It is our competence and our obligation because we are the representatives of the employers and we must clarify all employment issues through collective agreements,” recalled the president of CEOE Castilla y León, who regretted that at on this occasion the unions were “in favor” of the proposal of the Government of the nation “totally ignore collective bargaining”which remains “as residual”.

Unique situations

For his part, the president of the Family Business of Castilla y León, Isidoro Alanís, highlighted that “we, businessmen, have to endure unique situations in a democracy and this is one of them. The working day cannot be reduced because we cannot be less productive in Spain, “This is not how a society will progress,” he assured.

“Companies need to be more productive because we are competing with every country in the world and reducing working hours is a big mistake and what’s more, by doing it by decree-law, those who boast of negotiating everything do not do so”, added Alanís in statements collected by Europa Press during the VI Interregional Meeting of Family Businesses.

For the meeting held in Salamanca, 120 businessmen from Andalusia, Extremadura, Madrid, Castile-La Mancha and Castile and León were summoned to “advance and have a state of well-being, because the family businesses are the foundation of the livelihood of this state of well-being, we represent 90 percent of the economic fabric of Spain and we are the source of public revenue”, underlined the president of the Empresa Familiar de Castilla y León.

Alanís also exhibited his unease in the face of “the criticism we receive, senseless and unfair”, by Spanish ministers”, because from their point of view, family business is discredited by concrete actions that reduce business productivity.

One of the criticisms expressed by Alanís was the obligation that the government imposed on companies affected by DANA “saying that we require employees to go to work. This is impossible at a general level because employers will not put them not at work.” to his people at this time, in any case to help with the reconstruction as the president of Mercadona did, who is a national example who put 75 million euros in the community and in addition the only thing he received is critically destructive money.”

Regarding the differences between the communities, Alanís assured that they want there to be common regulations for all of Spain “especially on the issue of bureaucracy”. Businesses can’t afford more taxes and more increases in the tax burden and we want taxes to be reduced as much as possible in all autonomous communities, both in the communities and in the central government”, he concluded.
