Unicaja Málaga and Covirán Granada faced each other this Saturday in Córdoba for the Andalusian Cup ACB. It was the team from the Costa del Sol who won the title in Vista Alegre (80-77) After dominating the scoreboard throughout the match, although they suffered in the final stretch from the pressure of the Nasrid team that gave its best to win the trophy. Cordoba was able to enjoy a match in the highest category of Spanish basketball.
Unicaja Málaga quickly took control of the game from the first quarter. In their first run, they led by six points (8-2), with Covirán Granada going against the flow until at least halftime. Covirán Granada supporters present at Vista Alegre were noticed after Vicedo’s triplethat almost makes you dream of a return to the scoreboard. However, hopes grew after a great push from Unicaja Málaga with Osetkowski as the protagonist, leaving the score at 49-41 at halftime. Dominance of Malaga, but with Covirán trying to get into the game. A style of match that was maintained during the second half and that pleased the Córdoba fans.
Enthusiasm until the end
After the break, Unicaja’s dominance did not stop until the score was 58-47 after just a few minutes played. Once again, it was Covirán Granada’s turn to row. The last quarter was marked by some emotion. Covirán Granada pushed to get within two of Unicaja in the first two minutes of the last quarter (68-66). He had the chance to equalize or even take the lead. However, the Nasrid attack ended with the Osetkowski socket and Kravish’s triple that gave his team some peace of mind at 71-66. Another triple from Covirán Granada left the difference at three points with five minutes to go.
Covirán came within one point from a free kick, but Unicaja did not fail to increase the gap either.Barreiro contributed with another triple despite the efforts of the Nasrid team, who did not want to let go of the score. The distance was one point with two minutes to go.Thirty seconds remained and a basket from Willy kept Covirán alive (79-77). Covirán Granada almost surprised with a triple shot from Clavell, but in the end the cup went to the Costa del Sol.
