UNICEF: Cases with high nutrition in Hartum, al -jazis and darfour with high proportions

It is sleeping that the humanitarian crisis will aggravate during the drought season, which coincides with the rains from June to October, as is the case after the exhaustion of food supplies that gather at the end of the year in most Sudanese families.

And “Unisef” said in the report, what was seen by RT that “cases of receipt for the treatment of severe malnutrition increased by more than 70% in Northern Darfur, 174% in Khartum and 683% on the island.”

It was suggested that the increase in Hartum and the island is partially related to the improvement of security conditions and the ease of human access, which allowed mothers to cover medical centers to request support.

UNICEF announced a high percentage of children who receive treatment for severe malnutrition in all states of Darfur to 46% in the period from January to May 2025.

She noted that more than 40,000 children were introduced into the medical centers of severe malnutrition in North Darfur only during the first months of this year, presenting twice as many as the number recorded during the same period in 2024.

She explained that the examinations that were held in April and May 2025 showed an alarming increase in malnutrition in children in the Darfur areas, where the acute level of malnutrition exceeded the critical levels that the World Health Organization established in 9 of 13 local ones.

She stated that the results of the examination in the Yasin area in East Darfur showed that the acute level of malnutrition (moderate and chic) amounted to 28%, emphasizing that the level of indicators up to 30% means the achievement of one of the decisive criteria for the declaration of hunger.

She added: “These data indicate an escalator catastrophe that threatens children if they do not move quickly in the country, that some of its regions indicate situations like hunger.”

The severe acute malnutrition, called “severe exhaustion”, is the most dangerous forms of malnutrition, since the children suffering from it are more vulnerable to diseases, and the mortality rate that suffer from it is high if they do not receive immediate care.

This, and UNICEF warned of the risk of collective death between children in areas where the conditions will probably have hunger conditions, and Sudan enters the peak of the drought season, since this issue is aggravated by cholera, measles and the collapse of medical services.

The UN organization revealed the exhaustion of ready -made therapeutic food supplies for use in the El Fache, North Darfur, after attempts to bring consumables to the city.

“These numbers are dangerously high, and will deteriorate if it does not take urgent humanitarian actions, since the life of children depends on whether the world will decide to intervene or close the eyes.”

30.4 million Sudanists (64% of the population) need humanitarian aid this year, and the United Nations planned to help about 21 million until the number was reduced to 17.3 million people from the lack of funding.

UNICEF requires additional financing in the amount of 200 million US dollars for basic nutrition services, including sharp treatment of malnutrition and therapeutic distribution of food.
