This Tuesday, for the first time publicly, the United States recognized the opponent Edmundo González Urrutia as elected president of Venezuela following the July 28 elections.
“The people of Venezuela spoke forcefully on July 28 and named Edmundo González president-elect. Democracy requires respecting the will of voters,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on social media.
