The United States, South Korea and Japan have begun joint trilateral Freedom Edge exercises. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency in reference to the Committee of Chiefs of Staff (KNS) of South Korea.
“The three countries strongly condemned the DPRK’s provocative actions, including the test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.” — the agency cites a statement from the KNSH.
According to the publication, during the maneuvers actions in cyberspace, air defense and anti-submarine warfare will be practiced.
The leaders of the three countries agreed to carry out these exercises in August 2023 at a summit at Camp David (Maryland, USA).
It is reported that the American aircraft carrier George Washington, destroyers of the South Korean Navy and the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces will participate in them.
The South Korean command calls the exercises a demonstration of the desire to “contain threats emanating from the DPRK.”
