Aragon requests extreme caution in the Matarraña area, where up to 100 liters per square meter could fall. The critical section, according to current forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), will be between 12:00 and 18:00. However, at present, they cannot be excluded in the hours preceding and following, which is why the DGA asks to avoid any travel that is not strictly necessary.
The Regional Executive once again brought together the Center Emergency operational coordinationat (CECOP) to assess everything that has happened in recent hours. The Minister of Finance and Public Administration, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, confirmed that the flow rates of some rivers continue to be “high” and that, although there are still road closures and problems due to lack of electricity and drinking water In some parts of the Community the situation appears to be improving.
This does not mean that we will have to take “extreme security, control and caution measures” in the coming hours. The red alert in the province of Castellón, next to Matarraña in Teruel, forces us to be vigilant. For this reason, the advisor asked not to travel near river beds, runoffs and ravines. The main problem is that it has already rained a lot in the last few hours, a factor that could multiply the effect of the precipitation recorded this Thursday.
The Bajo Aragón and Maestrazgo area is also of concern. Another critical point, the Huerva axis, now appears secure. “The lamination carried out by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) worked very well, But currently, the marshes release almost as much water as they come in. This means that the river will be loaded, but from today the CHE forecasts indicate that it will be able to withstand it,” explained Bermúdez de Castro.
Meanwhile, in the region of Jalón and its tributaries, all eyes are on the spa town of Jaraba, where around 80 people remain. The surrounding roads are closed, but the Government of Aragon has informed them that “they can be evacuated by air or sea” if they request it or in the event of a medical emergency.
