An American citizen from Michigan died in an airstrike carried out by Israel in southern Lebanon, as confirmed on Wednesday by an American congresswoman representing her electoral district and relatives of the victim.
The Democratic representative from Michigan, Rashida Tlaibreported the death of one of his constituents in a post on X in which he condemned the U.S. government “for leaving Americans behind and failing to protect its own citizens.”
Kamel Ahmad Jawadcitizen of Dearborn, died yesterday “after being hit by an Israeli airstrike while trying to save innocent lives in his hometown of Nabatieh”, in southern Lebanon, according to his daughter, Nadine Jawad, in a statement on Instagram collected by Efe.

Jawad decided to stay close to the city’s main hospital “to help the elderly, disabled, injured and anyone who simply did not have the financial means to flee,” the letter added.
Israeli attacks on Lebanon Since the start of hostilities between Israeli forces and the Shiite group Hezbollah, nearly 2,000 people have died.
The casualties occurred mainly in southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut known as Dahye, a major Hezbollah stronghold in the capital.
