US elections: Trump widens his lead over Harris with victory in North Carolina

As of Wednesday morning, according to US media reports, Donald Trump is gaining critical support in the US presidential election. According to the latest data, the former president won in North Carolina. Trump also continues to lead the total number of voters, well ahead of Kamalla Harris: 230 to 209.

The 538-member elector system is distributed among the states according to their size and they determine who will assume the presidency. To win, a candidate must win the support of at least 270 voters.

States in focus include Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. According to preliminary estimates, these regions could prove decisive in the presidential race. As of the last update, Trump had already confirmed his victory in North Carolina.

The first polling stations closed at 01:00 Israeli time. The counting of votes continues and many expect that the final results will not be known immediately and will take several more days to be tabulated.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has won in Virginia, according to the latest New York Times polls. According to media estimates, Harris can win in one of Nebraska’s districts. It is one of the few states where electoral votes are distributed by district, giving each candidate the opportunity to win parts of the state.

Update: Harris won in Hawaii.

Previously, “Cursor” wrote that Trump declared himself the winner ahead of schedule and called the current election “his best campaign.”
