Highway Safety Administration USA launched a federal investigation into Tesla in order to determine if your system autonomous driving partial is defective, after four recorded accidents. One of these accidents in which their vehicles were involved even left a person dead.
This investigation represents a setback and damage to Tesla’s reputation, which will require great effort from the automaker’s CEO, Elon Muskwhose aim is to promote the company as a leader in autonomous driving.
US authorities want to assess how Tesla cars react to foggy environments and low visibility situations on the road, and whether their system is able to detect and respond appropriately.
Undoubtedly a blow to the company, especially since the South African businessman recently admitted that Tesla’s ability to develop self-driving technology will be “the difference between Tesla being worth a lot of money.” ‘money or worth practically zero’.
China’s setback against Tesla
That same Friday, we also learned that in China, the government of Xi Jinping delayed the launch of this technology from the American company due to problems related to mapping recognition and the security of data collected and stored by vehicles.
