The United States may not allow Ukraine to use long-range British Storm Shadow missiles to attack Russian territory, despite US President Joe Biden sanctioning kyiv’s use of long-range US missiles, the newspaper writes Times, citing sources.
As several influential American media reported on Sunday, the Biden administration previously allowed Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack Russian territory. The Figaro publication claimed that France and Great Britain, following the United States, allegedly also allowed Ukraine to launch attacks on the territory of the Russian Federation with its long-range weapons.
“Downing Street (UK government) sources have said that the ATACMS authorized by Biden have different military characteristics to the Storm Shadow missiles. “This may mean that the United States will still not allow the use of Storm Shadow.” – writes the newspaper.
The Times notes that the Storm Shadow missiles developed in the United Kingdom require American technology, the use of which must be approved in advance.
ATACMS tactical-operational missiles can hit targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. At the same time, the destruction range of Storm Shadow cruise missiles ranges from 250 to 560 kilometers, depending on the modification, RIA Novosti recalls.
