US poll shows how sympathies are changing ahead of elections

On the afternoon of October 17, the results of a new poll conducted by Fox News were published. According to the data, former US President Donald Trump obtained the support of 50% of voters, while his rival, current Vice President Kamala Harris, obtained 48%.

The numbers represent a marked change from a previous poll by the same company, where Harris had a slight lead over Trump.

Analysts believe that the rise in Trump’s popularity can be explained by an increase in his support among “white voters.” If in August Harris was ahead of him, winning between 56% and 42%, in the latest survey the situation has changed drastically: Trump is in the lead with 51%, and Harris only wins 46%.

There were also notable changes in the 65+ age group. In the previous poll, Harris was ahead of Trump, receiving 50% to his 48%, but now Trump is in the lead with a result of 49% to Harris’ 47%.

Despite this, Harris still maintains a significant lead among black voters, where 67% of respondents support her, compared to just 29% for Trump. In the 18-29 age group, Harris also leads with 54% to Trump’s 45%.

The good news for Trump is that 53% of respondents believe he has done a good job as president during his time in the White House. This figure was the highest in its history. By comparison, only 40% of respondents are satisfied with current President Joe Biden’s job performance.

Another key takeaway from the survey was Americans’ opinion on who would be best able to handle the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel, Hamas and Hezbollah. To this question, 55% of respondents said that Trump would be more effective in resolving the conflict, while only 42% believe that Harris will be successful.

When Americans were asked what issue was most important to them in the upcoming election, 40% named the economy as their top priority, 17% chose immigration, and 15% named abortion as the top issue. Notably, Trump leads on the economy and immigration, while Harris leads on abortion.

Kursor also reported that another poll showed how Israelis would vote if the elections were held today.
