US reports attack on Yemeni Houthi missile system

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it destroyed a missile system belonging to the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement that governs northern Yemen.

“Over the past 24 hours, U.S. Central Command forces have destroyed a missile system in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen,” – the command says in a statement on the social network X.

CENTCOM added that the system posed a threat to US and coalition forces, as well as merchant ships in the region.

Last October, the ruling Ansar Allah movement in northern Yemen announced that it would support Palestinian factions in the confrontation with the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip with the help of air and missile strikes. In particular, the Houthis announced their intention to attack any ship associated with Israel, calling on other countries to withdraw their crews and not approach them at sea. At the same time, the Houthis claimed that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region and do not touch other countries’ ships. Amid the attacks, some companies decided to suspend transport through the Red Sea.

Later, a source told RIA Novosti that Ansar Allah began moving its troops into Syria.
