The United States Secretary of State, Anthony Blinkensuggested Thursday that he does not plan to continue in a possible administration of the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris after the change of government, because he wants to spend more time with his family.
Blinken said Thursday that his main goal was to “close the books on this administration in January” after four years at the helm of U.S. diplomacy, as he would like to spend more time with his children.
“After spending a few days with my children (this summer), I can tell you that I would really appreciate spending more time with them,” Blinken said at a news conference from Haiti, in remarks reported by Efe.
Blinken was appointed by U.S. President Joe Biden at the start of his term in 2021.and has had to deal with crises such as the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the war in Ukraine or the crisis in Gaza, which has still not reached a ceasefire.
