AZERTAC reports that Antony Blinken stressed the importance of achieving lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and said that the United States of America will continue to spare no effort to achieve this goal. He considered the achievements in the field of border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the signing of the Regulations on joint activity of state border delimitation commissions on August 30, 2024, as a positive step.
Stating that there is already peace in the region, the Head of State stressed that as a result of Azerbaijan’s efforts, new realities and status quo based on justice and international law have emerged in our region. President Ilham Aliyev noted that it was our country that initiated the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan and in order to sign this treaty, Armenia must renounce its territorial claims against Azerbaijan based on its Constitution and other legislative acts, as well as the OSCE. The Minsk Group, which is a vestige of the past, and all its related institutions stressed the importance of ending their activities. Addressing the issue of border delimitation, President Ilham Aliyev noted the positive results achieved within the framework of the bilateral process and stated that this process will be carried out on the basis of the Constitution.
During the telephone conversation, the topic of holding COP29 in our country was addressed.
Antony Blinken noted that his country supports Azerbaijan in successfully holding COP29 and stressed that the Azerbaijani and US COP teams and delegations cooperate closely.
President Ilham Aliyev, expressing satisfaction with this cooperation, said he hopes that a consensus will be reached, especially by developed countries, on the adoption of important decisions related to climate finance within the framework of the COP.
During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States.
