Trump issued a decree on reducing financing of two non -profit institutions. In particular, public broadcasting corporations (CPB), which is responsible for state funds for NPR and PBS, was instructed to establish direct financing of both transmitters as much as possible.
Trump accuses NPR and PBS of partisan and biased. Trump’s decree is part of a number of presidential achievements to take unpleasant institutions with the withdrawal of federal funds.
NPR and PBS previously warned that reduction of funds will have a destructive effect on the supply of Americans with reliable information in emergency situations. CPB was launched by Congress in 1967 and finances more than 1,500 local radio and television channels.

The President and Chief Executive Director of the NPR Katherine Maher defended the reporting in an interview in the program “All taken into account” and considered the need to finance.
“I think that it is important for public media to continue to maintain its relevance at a time when there are many reports on various topics and areas of interest,” she said.

NPR receives approximately 1 % of its funds directly from the federal government and a slightly higher amount; 246 institutions -member institutions that control more than 1300 transmitters receive an average of 8 to 10 % of their funds from CPB.
