Valencia and Alicante host competitions this weekend to fill 2,700 Civil Guard positions in Spain

A total of 26,332 people will participate this Saturday and Sunday throughout Spain – also in Valencia and Alicante – to cover one of the 2,721 places who are offered this year to join as corporals and guards of the Civil Guard. Of the total candidates, 8,319 are women, representing 31.6 percent.

Half of the candidates are between 20 and 30 years old, leaving the average age of opponents at 28 years old. Concerning the level of training, there are a total of 5,279 people holding a university degree, a master’s degree or a doctorate.

The phase of opposition It is divided into four tests, including a knowledge test, a physical check, as well as a personal interview and a medical examination.

For the knowledge test, the Civil Guard established 19 headquarters, located in twelve autonomous communities, including the Valencian Communitywhere they will be held in Valencia and Alicante. In the case of Alicante, 1,164 people will present themselves, including 347 candidates, reaching 29.8%.

The other localities are Baeza (Jaén), Cádiz, Granada, Málaga, Seville, Ávila, Baleares, Gijón, Las Palmas, León, Logroño, Madrid, Mérida, Murcia, Tenerife, Vigo and Zaragoza.

Before the tests, the first phase took place, the competition, during which the merits that each opponent added to the minimum requirements to be able to participate in the competitions were evaluated. Specifically, They must be between 18 and 40 years oldof Spanish nationality, has no criminal record or has at least a high school diploma.

The four tests to be a civil guard

This weekend’s test consists of completing a series of tests on general theoretical knowledge, languages, spelling, psychotechnics and grammar.

Opponents having obtained sufficient scores will be summoned for the physical tests: a coordination and agility circuit, an endurance test – a two-kilometer distance race -, a strength test consisting of performing a certain number of push-ups depending on gender, and a 50-meter swimming test.

Those who pass these latter tests will undergo a personal interview to assess their mental suitability for the job they are applying for and finally a medical examination to assess their health and physical fitness.

Candidates who complete the competition will join the Baeza Guards Academy (Jaén) and at the College of Young Guards “Duque de Ahumada” in Valdemoro (Madrid), where they will receive their professional training during an academic year.
