The first round match of the Copa del Rey between Pontevedra and Levante this Wednesday in Pasarón was finally postponed by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The RFEF also confirmed that the match between Parla Escuela and Valencia CF would not be played.
The Levante expedition was unable to take the flight scheduled for Tuesday at 10:35 p.m. to Santiago due to the unfavorable weather conditions that their community has been experiencing since yesterday.
Pending approval from the RFEF, both clubs have agreed that the match will be played on Thursday next week. The date of the match between Parla Escuela and Valencia is also up in the air.
Likewise, the Valencia Basket-Lietkabelis, corresponding to the 6th day of the Euroleague which was to take place this Wednesday at 8:45 p.m., was suspended due to the consequences of the DANA that the province of Valencia suffered this Tuesday and which includes many deaths and significant material damage to infrastructure.
The match “was suspended following a recommendation from Valencia City Hall due to the extreme weather conditions which have affected the area since yesterday”, according to a press release from the competition.
“The Basketball Euroleague will evaluate with the affected teams the best possible options to reschedule the match. Further information will be released in the coming days. It also extends its deepest condolences to the victims and families affected by the weather conditions, and expresses its solidarity with all those concerned,” he added.
Valencia Basket collaborated on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday by welcoming dozens of people expelled from their homes or unable to access their homes at “L’Alqueria del Basket”, the club’s youth establishment.
