Valencia court sentences Zaplana to more than 10 years in prison for Erial case

The Fourth Section of the Provincial Court of Valenciasentenced the former President of the Generalitat and former Minister of Labor, Eduardo Zaplana, to 10 years and five months in prison for the crimes of corruption, money laundering, falsification of documents, misrepresentation and attribution of ITV service stations when he was president of the Valencian government.

It was also imposed 17 years and 10 months of employment ban and public functions, three others for the exercise of their profession and fines amounting to more than 25 million euros for the Erial affair. On the other hand, he was acquitted of the offense of integration into a criminal organization, but ordered the confiscation of various property and sums seized during the investigation of the case.

The room too convicted five other defendants to sentences of one year to three months and seven and a half years in prison for prevarication, corruption, lying and money laundering. They are the businessmen Vicente and José CE and Francisco PL, the lawyer and tax advisor Francisco GJ and Zaplana’s friend who served as his leader, Joaquín Miguel B.Ll.

THE the remaining eight accused were acquitted after the prosecution withdrew the charge for three of them or for not seeing evidence to support a conviction. Among those acquitted was the former president of the Generalitat José Luis Olivas. The judgment, which is 364 pages long, is not final and may be the subject of an appeal to the Supreme Court.
