Valencia launches 11 new school routes and three safe environments for educational centers

Students of Saint John Bosco Schoolof the Tendetes district of Valencia, already has a “safe school environment”. This “friendly” space is delimited by benches and planters and houses a sambari game and a long jump. It occupies 44 square meters, which are added to those set up for the same purpose at the entrances to the Hermes and San Luis Gonzaga schools, in Patraix and En Corts respectively. In total, the City Council has recovered almost 100 square meters of pedestrian space at the entrances to 3 educational centers in the city.

The Mayor of Valencia, Maria José Cataláaccompanied by the Councilor for Mobility and Security, Jesús Carbonell, verified this Friday “in situ” the result of the municipal intervention that concluded with the execution of the new safe school environment in Tendetes, and celebrated that the school year will begin on Monday in the city with three new spaces that allow to guarantee the safety of boys and girls when accessing their educational centers.

“This school year, Valencia will open 3 new school environments and 11 secure routes. With this, we seek to ensure that schools with busy entrances are more accessible, improve road safety and that our students benefit from a more user-friendly entrance to the school with children’s games,” he explained. Two new motorcycle parking spaces and 3 bicycle parking spaces have also been added on the street of the San Juan Bosco school.

On the other hand, the City Council has marked 11 new school routes to two educational centers located in the neighborhoods of Benicalap and Algirós, 5 routes to the CEIP Ciutat Artista Faller and 6 to the Santiago Grisolía Municipal Public School.

“The safe environments in schools are complemented by the routes that we develop in collaboration with the schools according to the needs. Currently, our city already has 112 safe routes to get to school,” said the mayor.

The 5 marked routes in Benicalap Towards the CEIP Ciutat Artista Faller, they have 97 footprint-shaped road markings and 51 arrow-shaped ones, arranged every 15 meters on the sidewalk. Each route is preceded by a vertical pencil-shaped sign that marks the beginning of the routes. The routes run along Levante UD Avenue, Encarna Albarracín Street, Ninot Street, Regino Más Square, Amadeo Desfilis Street, Burjasot Avenue or Andreu Alfaro Street.

Concerning the routes of the Illa Perduda district, in AlgiersThe City Council has marked out 6 safe routes to the Santiago Grisolía school. In total, 68 footprint-shaped road markings and 32 arrow-shaped ones, arranged every 15 meters. Each route is preceded by a vertical pencil-shaped sign. These routes run through sections of Blasco Ibañez Avenue, Santos Justo and Pastor streets, José Mª Haro and Músico Ginés, among others.
