Valencia to invest 3.5 million euros in mornings, summer schools and catering schools

The mayor and the president of the Generalitat inaugurated the school year at the Early and Primary Education College (CEIP) Carles Salvador, in the Sant Llorenç neighborhoodwhere 1.4 million euros have been invested. The works include the renovation of three early childhood education classrooms and the creation of a fourth class for boys and girls aged 2 and 3, the renovation of the bathrooms and the installation of two emergency exits in the primary building, the extension of the kitchen and dining room, the adaptation of the sports area and the patio with a large covered area and a new building that will house the warehouse, toilets, offices and changing room for physical education. In addition, works worth 45,755 euros have also been undertaken to repair and paint the façade and the central fence in order to improve its external image.

The mayor thanked the educational community of CEIP Carles Salvador for their efforts, “which lived a whole year with the works, which forced the students to move and which, without a doubt, caused inconvenience but the works were necessary and since then The center has shown a lot of patience. That is why we were especially excited to be here, because all these improvements make the start of the course much better. The center deserved it and we did the renovation in record time. “We started the journey on a very good foot.”

The Carles Salvador Early and Primary Education Centre (CEIP) is located in the Sant Llorenç neighbourhood and has 3 second-cycle preschool units (75 places), 6 primary education units (150 places), 225 students and 17 teachers. 6 students have special educational needs and 51 of them receive help in the dining room. The centre is deeply rooted in the life of the neighbourhood. 98% of students pass all academic areas.

Furthermore, the mayor added that “from July to October, in just four months, we allocate almost 600,000 euros to improve our city’s schools“. At this point, María José Catalá recalled that the City Council has already carried out improvement and repair actions in 12 centers. “In the Clara Campoamor nursery school, in the municipal schools of Benimaclet, Santiago Grisolía and Fernando de los Ríos and in 8 public schools in the city, for an amount that amounts to 344,015 euros. “Currently, the waterproofing works of the roof of the main building of the CEIP Manuel González Martí are also underway,” he stressed.

Finally, María José Catalá also announced that, soon, the Ministry of Education “will send the necessary budget increase to be able to tender the work of the CEIP Saint Joseph Calasanzwhich also requires intervention.
