Valencian businessmen reopen the course with emphasis on the pending topic: financing

The event that traditionally marks the beginning of the economic year in Valencia, the meeting in La Albufera between business leaders and regional political representatives sponsored by Cámara Valencia, served to rehearse the demand for an autonomous financing system in the middle of a storm because of the concert with Catalonia.

The president of the Chambers of Commerce of the Valencian Community and the Chamber of Valencia, José Vicente Morata, has demanded “facts” from the central government on the new regional financing system, which he believes will also serve to improve services to SMEs. This is how Morata expressed himself this Thursday in statements questioned on the announcement by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, on the creation of a “fairer” regional financing system.

In this regard, Morata maintained that businessmen have been hearing for “many years” messages that new financing was arriving and stressed that they would evaluate the facts. “What we want are facts about how this translates into reality. Today we don’t have them,” he said.

Likewise, he stressed that they want “equality” in the financing system, because he believes that this will affect social services and services to SMEs, since he considers that currently “there is a difference.” “There are communities that have better services because they have better financing,” he lamented.

Liberalization and fewer obstacles

At the meeting attended by Carlos Mazón himself and a good part of his government, Morata advocated “continuing with market liberalization policies, avoiding obstacles, greatly streamlining the economy” and considered that this year, given “greater confidence in the economy and companies”, which, according to him, has generated “greater interest from companies in the Community”.

In addition, he identified as a challenge the increase in productivity and the level of exports, as well as the diversification of markets or the reduction of absenteeism in companies.

“A challenge is everything that generates the economy, it is what can allow us to do it, it is the common challenge that companies have and that we go hand in hand with the Government. We have a long way to go and these are challenges that coincide exactly with the policies that the European Union is going to have for the next five years and that here, we have advanced, in this community, we are the only one where everything that appears in the reports begins to be done,” he said. welcomed, while insisting that companies must go “hand in hand” with the regional executive “to make these challenges a reality.”

In addition, he stressed that the Valencia Chamber has the same number of successes in 2024 as in the whole of 2023. “It is true that this administrative simplification, this reduction of administrative obstacles, this reduction of deadlines translates into a reality of companies, not only international but also national, are making a bet,” he said.

Morata praised the fact that Mazón “knew what the needs of businessmen are”, which is why he believes that “it was very easy to explain the needs of SMEs”, which he praised as those that provide “the guarantee of employment and economic growth” in the Community.

For his part, the President of the Generalitat asked the Chambers and the business world to go to international markets “to tell what is beginning to happen in the Valencian Community”, with the aim of contributing to conveying “the image of a Community that eliminates obstacles, that reduces taxes, that opens up to investment, that has no prejudices and that understands that economic activity and investment are here the prelude to social policies.

Mazón called for unity to “continue generating jobs, attracting wealth and promoting social policies” and said that businessmen will find in the Consell “an ally” to generate jobs and attract wealth, “because economic activity is the prelude to social policies and social cohesion.”
