Valencians save 1.7 million in capital gains with Catalá compared to 71,200 euros with Ribó

A total of 3,103 Valencians They saved in eight months, which run from January to August 2024, 1.7 million for the 95% tax bonus on increasing the value of natural land, the so-called capital gainsof the Valencia City Hallwho now leads the popular Maria Jose Catala. This figure contrasts with the 274 beneficiaries who benefited from the previous local government bonus of PSOE and compromisewho led Joan Ribo. And they could only save 71,200 euros andbetween January and August of the previous year, 2023. All this, according to data provided by the Valencia City Council itself.

The bonus on capital gains was already envisaged in the tax reduction which María José Catalá herself promoted upon her arrival at the City Hall and that, in terms of property taxes alone, she hoped to save €70 for more than 400,000 Valencians.

The reduction of the capital gains I thought at that time that the Valencians They will stop paying taxes to their municipality simply by inheriting. Catalá included in its initiative a “real” bonus of 95% in the event of death between spouses, ascendants and descendants and eliminated the conditions that prevented the bonus from being eligible. In addition, it created a new bonus of 95% of the capital gain for the transmission of exchanges between spouses, ascendants and descendants during life.

The effects of this new ordinance and the removal of the requirements demanded by the PSOE and Compromís have allowed a saving of 1,779,653.45 euros to the 3,103 Valencian taxpayers who were able to benefit from this 95% bonus, compared to the 71,259 euros that the 274 taxpayers who could benefit from this percentage of bonus with the previous regulation were saved between January and August: that of Compromís and the PSOE, as explained by the first deputy mayor. Maria José Ferrer San Segundo.

The same advisor described it as “leonines” the requirements demanded by the regulations of the PSOE and the Compromís. Among them, Ferrer San Segundo recalled that there were those of “reduction only if it was the habitual residence, the obligatory cohabitation with the deceased for two years before the death or the maintenance of the domicile without transmitting it for four years.”
